August 12,
2005 - Bio-Organic Catalyst, Inc. announces the initial order has been
received from New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYC
DEP) of its bio-organic catalyst product, EcoCatalystTM, for odor
reduction within the central residuals receiving and transport facility.
his facility receives the bulk of grease
collected from the NYC DEP
municipal wastewater plants, along with the wide variety of non-organic
wastes (grit screenings) that are separated from the total wastewater
flows, that enter the nearly two billion gallons per day (2BPD) volume
of wastewater that the entire, multi-facility (14 facilities), system
must treat every day.
The
magnitude of the odors within the residuals facility is substantial, and
though the existing facility has large air handling and filtration
equipment installed, the odors within the facility are highly unpleasant
and potentially unhealthy to staff. This initial order will be first
use of a bio-organic catalyst odor control installation that will treat
the odors and grease accumulations that will be treated through water
delivery spraying, at a highly diluted basis, over the residuals and
floors of the interior of the facility.
This
installation is part of the Company’s ongoing efforts to deploy highly
effective odor reduction systems to the most challenging odor problems
of municipal wastewater operations and sanitation systems. These
installations can be complimentary to existing air handling and
filtration systems, or deployed independently, for improvements to
working conditions and communities for highly odorous waste facilities
and transportation of wastes.
